WASHINGTON – U.S. Sens. Roger Wicker and Thad
Cochran today announced the City of D’Iberville has received a $1,702,564
Water and Waste Disposal Direct Loan from the U.S. Department of
Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development program. The funds will be used to
complete water and sewer improvements in five existing service areas by
constructing water distribution and sewer collection lines, and provide
water lines so fire hydrants can be installed. The project will also
connect over 7,000 users into the city’s sewage system.
“This federal loan will help the City of D’Iberville
upgrade their water and sewer infrastructure system in order to better
serve the community,” Sen. Wicker said. “I am glad USDA Rural Development
saw the value in this project and I want to thank them for providing this
loan to D’Iberville.”
The mission of the USDA Rural Development Water and
Waster Disposal Loan Program is to develop water and waste disposal
systems, including solid waste disposal and storm drainage, in rural areas
and towns with a population not in excess of 10,000. USDA Rural
Development serves as the lead federal entity for rural development needs
and aims to increase economic opportunity and improve the quality of life
in rural America.
