
Mandatory Evacuations Issued for FEMA
Cottages and Trailers Starting Sunday

Mandatory evacuations are issued for Coast
counties beginning Sunday at 8 a.m. for people living in the following:

FEMA travel trailers.
·
FEMA mobile homes.
·
Mississippi Cottages.
Mandatory evacuations also begin Sunday 8
a.m. for Hancock and Harrison counties for residents living in these same
units and areas.
Jackson County will transport residents to
shelters beginning noon Sunday. Shelters there will open at 5 p.m. Sunday.
More than 5,000 Mississippi families still
live in state and federal disaster housing in the three lower counties.
These units are temporary units which is why they are not elevated to
heights to protect residents from floods and many are in flood prone
areas, said MEMA Director Mike Womack.
Gustav is currently a Category 4 hurricane
and forecasted to make landfall on the Gulf Coast as early as Monday or
Tuesday.
