Hancock County Orders Mandatory Evacuations

Hancock County has ordered mandatory evacuations for all areas south of I-10 including all areas that flooded during hurricane Katrina.

According to Bay St. Louis Mayor Eddie Farve, the evacuations are necessary for the safety of residents as hurricane Gustav may have a storm surge that could be worse than Katrina due to the angle the storm is expected to come ashore.

There is also a mandatory curfew that will go into effect from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. This curfew to areas south of I-10 and may be extended more days depending on how the hurricane effects the area.
