 Sand Beaches
Closed Throughout Harrison County Due to Safety Hazards
Harrison County, Miss. - All of the sand beaches across the county are closed until further notice to prevent injuries from debris deposited there from Hurricane Gustav.
Sand Beach Department Authority director Bobby Weaver said there is extensive debris on the beaches, much of which can cause serious injuries.
Weaver said, "On every beach, our damage assessors have found substantial quantities of dangerous items, some of them hidden from sight, such as broken glass, sheet metal with sharp edges and boards with protruding nails."
