
Almost 437 Coast Residents Evacuated
by School Buses

PEARL
– Approximately 437 coastal residents were able to evacuate the
Mississippi Gulf Coast through the school bus transportation provided by
the Mississippi Department of Education on Sunday.
The
first convoy of about a dozen school buses left Harrison County with 323
people at 5:15 p.m. today. The second convoy picked up about 42 people and
left the coast at 6 p.m. The third convoy transported 72 evacuees.
Additionally, 15 pets were evacuated by bus.
The
buses are expected to begin arriving at the Jackson Coliseum between 7:30
p.m. and 8 p.m.
