The Humane Society of South Mississippi has been recognized by Charity Navigator for the third year due to their excellence in fiscal responsibility and sustainability as well as its obligation to its donors, supporters and customers. HSSM receives the highest rating of four-stars from Charity Navigator, America’s largest and most-trusted independent charity evaluator.

Charity Navigator evaluates more than 5,400 charities every year and accepts no funding from the charities they evaluate, ensuring that their ratings remain objective. They also offer this trusted data at no charge to its users.

Charity Navigator works to guide intelligent giving, helping people give to charity with confidence. At the same time, Charity Navigator aims to help charities by shining lights on truly effective organizations to help ensure that charitable giving keeps pace with the growing need for charitable programs. The ratings are driven by those two objectives: helping givers and celebrating the work of charities.

“Navigator rates non-profit organizations based on a very specific set of standards and awards each a rating based on a four-star scale” said Bonnie Miller, HSSM, Executive Director, “This is the third year we have received the 4-Star rating, which is the highest score possible. I believe it can be attributed to the work of our dedicated staff and the Humane Society’s board of directors.”
