The following is the actual email correspondence between Keesler officials and GCN's Keith Burton regarding the base's position on the Rodenberg Bridge.

Received 4/11/08:

Keith,

First, my apologies for not getting an answer to you sooner on your questions you sent March 10.

We are back on track and wanted to ensure you got information you needed.  Below is official response from Keesler (you may attribute to me if you wish)

“Keesler has not been officially approached by MDOT or any governmental agency about a north-south corridor proposal currently on the table. In the meantime, we will continue to press forward with our efforts to rebuild the base back with our family housing project, eventually providing a much needed thousand new homes for our Airmen and their families and continue to do our part to renew the community.

Keesler continues to be a part of local planning studies and look forward to working with city planners on the adoption of options that support the economic growth of the surrounding communities while protecting the viability of Keesler’s mission.”

Thanks for your time and patience.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do for you

Stephen, I have received numerous requests for Keesler's latest position on a new north Biloxi access bridge for Rodenberg Ave. Biloxi's growth suggests a huge need for another bridge from the Biloxi peninsula to the areas across Back Bay where most of the people on in the city live, including many that work at Keesler. The problem in the past is that it has been Keesler's opposition in a new bridge at the Rodenberg area where studies have shown to be the ideal location.

I have several questions:

1. What is Keesler's official position on a new bridge at Rodenberg Ave.

across Biloxi's Back Bay?

2. Does Keesler still oppose a new bridge at that location?

3. If Keesler opposes a bridge at Rodenberg, what are the reasons?

4. If a bridge was to be constructed at the north end of Rodenberg, would Keesler be closed?

It is my hope that you can find someone at Keesler that can respond to these questions. Please call or email  me if you have any questions.
