Moss Point Public Works Repairing Leaky City Water Tank
From: Jackson County EOC  Ken Flannigan   Filed 9/16/08 GCN

Moss Point – The City of Moss Point Public Works Department is performing maintenance and interior cleaning on the ground storage water tank located on Neese Lane.  This three-phase project began Friday, September 12 with a completion date by the end of the month.

Phase one and two, which involves installation of new chlorine injectors and a new pump, have been completed.  The remaining work includes rinsing the interior of the tank to remove any sediment, inspection of the tank interior, and making identified repairs.  Once complete, the Neese Lane tank will be refilled and placing back into service.

“Our maintenance activities began because of a leak in the ground storage water tank,” said Cephus Finklea, Director of Public Works.  “Not only was the leak causing the pump to continuously run but treated water was leaking onto the ground rather than being deliver to residents.”

Until completion, residents in the Escatawpa area should not experience water pressure fluctuations.  However, residents are encouraged to call the Public Works Department at 228.475.1151 if low water pressure suspected.
