The Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art has announced as its new Director, Denny Mecham.  Ms. Mecham last served as Executive Director at the North Carolina Pottery Center in Seagrove, NC, she was chosen from a list of over 40 candidates.  Ms. Mecham received a Bachelor of Art-History from Queens College in Charlotte, NC and Master’s Degrees in Art/Ceramics from Eastern Michigan University and Photography and Design from the College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, NY.

George Ohr came into her life when, as a student, she remembers, “I visited an exhibition at the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, NY. “ It is most fitting that the work of an artist as inventive and original as George Ohr will be showcased in the work of Frank Gehry, one of the 21st century’s most innovative and exciting architects”

.”As the new director of the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum, I am truly excited to be joining the Ohr team and look forward to meeting  a new community of artists and art lovers of all ages and interests.”  Mecham said. “ As the museum moves to completion over the next few years, the campus will become a focal point for the local community  as well as national and international visitors to the area.  This communion is fostered by a fascination with each man’s unique and unrestrained vision.”  She is thrilled, to be part of the rebuilding effort and watching the dream become reality.

Ms. Mecham will be introduced to the community at the  7th Annual George Ohr Gala at Beau Rivage Resort and Casino on Thursday, October 16.
