Wicker for Senate Files FEC Complaint Over Musgrove Ad
Says Its Illegal

Jackson, Miss. – In response to stories last week about the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee’s (DSCC) illegal ad in support of Ronnie Musgrove, Wicker for Senate will formally file a complaint with the Federal Elections Commission.

Federal election law stipulates that coordination between a federal campaign and a national committee, such as the DSCC, is limited to $180,800 in Mississippi.  According to new totals, the DSCC has spent over $500,000 on Musgrove’s behalf, more than $350,000 over the federal limit. 

“It’s been nearly a week and still no response from Ronnie Musgrove or his campaign.  There are still too many unanswered questions about the illegal collusion of the Musgrove campaign and the DSCC,” said Wicker for Senate spokesman Ryan Annison. 

“If Musgrove didn’t coordinate with the DSCC, who arranged the Musgrove film shoot?  Who approved it from Musgrove’s campaign, and how long were they present? Who on the Musgrove campaign coordinated getting him there, and how did the DSCC know Musgrove would be there that day?  Who are the other people in the ad, and who recruited them? Why is Ronnie Musgrove relying on the DSCC to run his campaign ads?”

“Mississippians deserve answers to these questions,” said Annison.
