By Perry Hicks - Special to GulfCoastNews.com About a year ago, many people scoffed at GCN’s published suggestion that Barack Obama could become the Democrat’s nominee for President. Even now, before this summer’s Democrat National Convention, that prediction appears to be a fait accompli. Accordingly, one might want to mark this statement: Before this election year’s end, the American public will be fed up with the subjects of race and racism; particularly the hypocritical reverse race hatred spewing forth from the mouths behind the virulent Left’s lectures, podiums and pulpits. To be fair, Barack Obama’s presidential campaign is a pinnacle achievement in both the African struggle for social and political equality in America, and the renewal of the Democrat Party. Owing to Obama’s far left wing politics, a win in November could well be a pinnacle of achievement for Political Correctness, too. However, should Obama win, Political Correctness won’t have prevailed because the majority of voters will have suddenly embraced it. His win would be because of Obama’s masterful deployment of just two words; Hope and Faith; words which have special inter-connected meanings on two different planes in both the secular and spiritual worlds. Indeed, as we shall see in Part 2, Hope and Faith literally revolve around each other in a kind of double helix, not unlike the fundamental building block of life itself. Obama has carefully deployed these words within his speeches so that they could become the driving force propelling his rising star high into the political sky. So far, his has been a most skillfully executed campaign of public deception. When Obama speaks of change, the people know not of what kind. When he speaks of hope, the audience presumes he means theirs. And when Obama addresses faith, together with hope, the two are twisted around to simultaneously mean that faith and hope are personified in Barack himself. Thus far, Obama has been able to energize a coalition of minorities, older elitist white liberal males, and a broad band of youth holding out the expectation that Obama will govern differently. It remains to be seen if he can assuage the hurt feeling of the Feminist block loyal to Hillary Clinton. It remains to be seen if his opponent, John McCain, can mend relations with the conservative base sufficiently enough to convince them to vote for him. Beyond Obama’s far left socialism, the secondary danger is that a sizable portion of the electorate is willing to place still another inexperienced and naïve leader in the White House. Adolf Hitler In the alternative reality spinning about in the mind of Barack Obama, America is apparently no longer symbolized by a bold Eagle soaring high above the earth. America is not a noble country both great and virtuous. Judging by the church he has attended for two decades and the condemnation it has for the United States, he certainly cannot see America as “good.” More importantly, Americans do not resolve their problems by rolling up their sleeves and doing the hard work necessary to make things happen. They somehow have been rendered powerless and are therefore reduced to mere “hope.” In Obama’s world, “hoping” is in itself audacious, and we might add, tricky. While hoping can be defined as a “desire accompanied by expectation of or belief in fulfillment,” it can also be defined as “someone or something on which hopes are centered.” Obama, of course, is the someone on whom Americans are to hang there hopes upon; that their supposed long sufferings are to be relieved. Quoting from Obama’s speech to the 2004 Democrat National Convention: “It's the hope of slaves sitting around a fire singing freedom songs; the hope of immigrants setting out for distant shores; the hope of a young naval lieutenant bravely patrolling the Mekong Delta; the hope of a millworker's son who dares to defy the odds; the hope of a skinny kid with a funny name who believes that America has a place for him, too. Hope in the face of difficulty. Hope in the face of uncertainty. The audacity of hope!” While saying the following openly will certainly be decried as insensitive and perhaps even cruel, it is none the less true:
There is not one word in this list about taking personal responsibility to work one’s way out of difficulty, much less the patriotism to fight for the interest of one’s country. There should be no surprise for this omission; in Obama’s “progressive” universe, America’s interests ought to be subordinated to the rest of the world. The Audacity of Progressivism I use emotion for the many and reserve reason for the few- Adolf Hitler As reported by AFP, Obama spoke to an environmentally sensitive group of Oregonians in May 2008, saying: "We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK. That's not leadership. That's not going to happen." So the presumptive President of the United States would force his fellow citizens to park their SUVs, tell them what or how much they are going to eat, and prevent them from being comfortable in their own homes- all predicated on what foreigners might think. Our forefathers would roll over in their graves. Obama’s remark just doesn’t show a disconnect with global economic and political reality, it shows a complete disregard for the U.S. Constitution’s Preamble and the presidential oath of office to defend the Constitution. Obama’s position is one of willful weakness if not an actual embrace of utter helplessness, not unlike his analogy of slaves sitting around a fire, providing that they collectively have the requisite carbon credits, singing freedom songs. If the weakness promoted by the Democrats is considered, one has to ask, just what is progressive about progressivism? What over the decades have their programs wrought? The Regressive Fruits of Progressivism How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think- Adolf Hitler It should be noted at the outset that in the early days of the 20th Century, as now in the 21st, Progressives were counted in both Republican and Democratic parties. The early progressive victories were beneficial precisely because they met Constitutional muster of addressing the general welfare; efforts toward Civil Rights, Women’s Suffrage; Public Health through better sanitation, purer food, and drugs that did what their makers claimed they did; Universal free basic Public Education- so that every voter might be an informed voter; Transportation projects be they through the interior via highways and river/canal projects, intercoastal waterways, or through the air, by the creation of metropolitan airports and the invisible air lanes interconnecting them. Finally, progressives created the Federal Park and Wildlife Refuge Systems.
Progressivism is also socialistic in philosophy, and so within it also has the seeds of destruction. Despite the current revival of the term to provide cover for liberals, there have not been any numbers of real Progressives since the early 1950s. What happened was that as the century advanced, Progressivism succumbed to an even more virulent form of socialism, New Deal Liberalism. Having the expectation that if big government is good, bigger government can only be better, these New Deal Liberals over reached in their zeal to make life better for everyone. The first wrong moves came on under the fairly early and were fundamental to the massive social programs to be instituted in the 1930s under FDR. In 1913 under the Progressives:

This is done on purpose. Listen to his various speeches and little bits of Obama’s intentions do leak out, and in Obama’s lexicon, “change” does not mean something fresh and new. His little slips reveal that he offers nothing aside from the tried and true socialist dogma because socialists have obviously not learned from their mistakes- provided their failures, from their point of view, were ever taken as failures at all. Take the Democrat Party, for example. Immediately following the Civil War, it was the literal objective of this party to keep blacks down, uneducated, and toiling away for them on what was left of the plantation, so that Democrats might remain in wealth and power. There should be no irony in that over the intervening 143 years, the Democrats would have evolved to be socially conscious, but none the less still dedicated to keeping a sufficient number of blacks down and on the figurative plantations of the day, Section 8 housing. Keeping them thus still profits Democrats and maintains them steadfastly in political power. Of course, Democrats want to describe Section 8 housing as a benefit for the poor. There, “free” (meaning paid for by you and me) rent and perhaps utilities, food assistance and WIC to provide wholesome nourishment, and taxpayer provided medical care all can be just an illegitimate baby away. Drugs, violence, and crime make economic development of these neighborhoods range from difficult to impossible. The Section 8 apartment complexes may be so violent and policing needs so intense that in some locals, like Richmond, Virginia, many employ state registered armed security officers with arrest authority to keep the peace. This liberal largesse has ravaged the black family, marginalized black men, and resulted in a full 70% of black children being born out of wedlock. Despite the enormous amounts of money that can be spent on public education, black children in the most “progressive” venues lag behind white children in almost every academic area. For example, the black dominated Washington, D.C. school system administration spent over $13 thousand per student, but graduated just 54% of them in 2001. Contrast this to nearby Fairfax County, Virginia where black graduation rates topped 87% and the school system spent just over $82 hundred per student during the same period. Young black students who earn good grades are told they are “acting white,” are taunted and ridiculed, or even subjected to physical assaults until they conform and dumb down.
No, the blame is mostly placed collaterally on “whitey” through “institutionalized racism” that supposedly created “inequalities” in both testing and instruction that just prevents black kid from being able to learn. These professional race hustlers continue use the same old civil rights arguments even though as we can see from our examples above, mere dollars will not buy a quality education, nor will the race of the system’s administrators. It never seems to occur to the students that the “problem” isn’t that the achievers are “acting white,” the problem is that the bullies are literally “acting Klan.” No Klu Klux Grand Dragon could ever have dreamed possible a system where blacks would self-oppress, self-terrorize, self-drug, and self-abuse as in the one their so-called friends on the left have implemented. Even after years of trying to evade it, blacks have even been sold on the notion that it is “black” to call each other “ni@@ers.” When called on it by whites, blacks even try to claim between blacks only, “ni@@er” is actually a “term of endearment.” Of course, it is not. Ni@@er is a term of derision, and if one listens to them it is used as such. However, the brainwashing of the black community is so complete, even this highly offensive racial term can be turned on its head. This brainwashing is a sign of a much larger problem, one that it shares with America at large: the black community is losing its identity, and with it, its moral compass. It should be no surprise then that perceived racially motivated attacks by blacks is on the rise and the media is loath to report it. No less surprising is how Government officials avoid recording reverse-hate crimes by certain racial/ethnic groups, even skewing the data through recording tricks, ostensibly for nothing more than pure political purposes (see Side Bar below - FBI Data Keeping Trick Spares Hispanics From Hate Crime Record.) For this reason, all official hate-crime data is suspect and in GCN’s opinion, no reliable numbers are currently extant on this issue. Sidebar: FBI Data Keeping Trick Spares Hispanics From Hate Crime Record By Perry Hicks-Special to GulfCoastNews.com If the available racial ethnicities are compared in the attached FBI crime stat files, Hispanics, for statistical reporting purposes, are listed as victims, but not offenders. Under the category of “offender,” “Hispanic” is simply not a choice. The Orwellian manipulation of information gatherers would prevent Hispanics, and therefore illegal Hispanic immigrants, from registering on official crime statistics and committing hate-crimes against U.S. citizens with the border of the United States. Considering the number of illegals now residing in Federal prisons is on the order of 17%, and estimated to be about 50% of California’s (33% nationally overall,) one would have to be naïve to believe not a single Hispanic, legal or illegal had committed a hate crime. Obviously, the political ramifications of illegal immigrants committing hate crimes against Americans on their own soil would result in a voter backlash and demand for action. GCN can only conclude that the FBI intentionally gathered and classified this information with such a glaring and obvious error. Of course, those of Obama’s mindset cannot blame
underachievement on black parents for their failure to parent, or on the
brokenness of the black family because of the welfare state that basically
bribes young women and even school age girls to become pregnant. They
won’t even blame the hooligans for forcing academic failure.
